Pets Welcome at Student Housing

We understand that pets are family too. Find out how you can bring your furry, feathered, or scaly friend to your student home.

Our Pet Policy

We aim to be as accommodating as possible for students with pets. Here's what you need to know about bringing your pet to your student accommodation.

Fish Are Always Welcome

Every tenant is allowed to have a fish tank with up to two fish without requiring special permission.

Request Other Pets

You can request to have up to two pets (cats, dogs, etc.) per house. Approval is at the landlord's discretion.

Submit Before Signing

We strongly recommend submitting your pet request and receiving approval before signing your tenancy agreement.

What to include with your form:

  • A clear photo of your pet
  • Detailed description (breed, size, temperament)
  • Vaccination records (if applicable)
  • Reason for wanting to bring your pet

Important: Submit your request early! We recommend getting approval before signing your tenancy agreement to ensure your pet can join you.

Pet Agreement Terms

Our pet policy is designed to ensure a harmonious living environment for all tenants while accommodating pet owners. Here are the key points from our agreement:

  • Pet Description & Prior Approval:

You must provide a photo and detailed description of your pet before bringing it into the property. Approval is specific to the pet described, not a blanket permission.

  • Number of Pets:

Maximum of 2 pets per property. Requests for more than 2 pets cannot be accommodated regardless of breed or species.

  • Access to Property:

Your pet must not restrict access to any part of the property for other residents, viewings, inspections, or maintenance. 24-hour notice will be provided for access.

  • Cost of Residence:

Generally, no extra charges for pets. However, if bills are included in rent, additional costs for utilities (e.g., heat lamps for reptiles) may be passed on.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about bringing pets to your student accommodation.

Do I need to pay an extra deposit for my pet?

Typically, we do not charge an additional 'pet deposit'. However, you are fully responsible for any damages caused by your pet, which may be deducted from your standard tenancy deposit.

What if my housemates don't want a pet?

If you're in a shared house, it's crucial that all tenants are comfortable with a pet living in the property. We recommend discussing this with your housemates before submitting a pet request. In some cases, pet approval may be contingent on all housemates agreeing.

What types of pets are generally allowed?

Fish (up to 2 in a tank) are always welcome without special permission. For other common domestic pets like cats and dogs, requests are considered on a case-by-case basis. Exotic or potentially dangerous animals are generally not permitted.

What happens if my pet causes damage?

You are responsible for any damage caused by your pet to the property or furnishings. This includes repairs or replacements for carpets, furniture, and decoration. Costs may be deducted from your deposit or you may be billed separately for extensive damage.
